The film "Namme” directed by Zaza Khalvashi has been selected for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
The Georgian film was selected as a nominee for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film on August 31, by a special committee, through a secret ballot with a majority of the votes cast.

Six films competing to be selected as the Academy Awards nominee for Best Foreign Language Film included:

"Khibula” - directed by Giorgi Ovashvili;
"Namme” - directed by Zaza Khalvashi;
"Horizon” - directed by Tinatin Kajrishvili;
"Dede” - directed by Mariam Khachvani;
"Ekvtime: Man of God” - directed by Nikoloz Khomasuridze;
"Hamlet” - directed by Giorgi Megrelishvili.

The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, which is the most important event in the film industry in the world, will be held on February 24, 2019.
