Georgia has ideal climactic and geographical conditions for filming. Most days during the year are sunny while various landscapes (mountains, glaciers, seaside, desert) can be reached from the capital in two to four hours. The country also has a unique architecture which has been influenced by both eastern and western cultures but also retains its own distinct features. There are old buildings and constructions built as far back as the 3rdor 4thcentury BC: they include fortresses, shrines, houses, cave cities and churches.
The history of film-making in Georgia dates back to 1908. Since then Georgian cinematography has enjoyed great success and established its own unique identity. There are currently many professional and experienced people in the Georgian industry who ensure that films are made to a high quality. This is evidenced by the success of several Georgian and foreign films on the international arena in recent years.
