After participating in the Sundance and Berlin international film festivals, the Georgian film "My Happy Family” took part in the Sofia International Film Festival and became the winner of the award for Best Directing.
The film directors - Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross were awarded the prize.
The Sofia International Film Festival took place from March 9th to 19th. The Georgian film was among the 13 feature films from different countries around the world selected to participate in the main competition programme of the Film Festival.
The production of the film "My Happy Family” was supported by the Georgian National Film Centre. The film is about a Georgian family, where three generations live together under the same roof. The main character of the film – Manana, 52, unexpectedly decides to leave her house.
"My Happy Family” is the first Georgian film, the international distribution rights to which has been acquired by the company "Netflix”, thus making it available for international audiences in 130 countries throughout the world. Before the premiere screening of the film by "Netflix”, in 2017, the film will be screened in the cinema halls in France, Germany and Georgia.
